DJ Shadow’s ‘Endtroducing…..’ reissued on vinyl for 30th anniversary

DJ Shadow is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his seminal debut album ‘Endtroducing…..’ with a vinyl reissue and tour.

The California-born producer and DJ will release the double-LP set via Mo’Wax / [PIAS] on 18th September, three decades after the album first arrived in September 1996.

‘Endtroducing…..’ is widely regarded as a landmark release in instrumental hip-hop and sample-based production, earning Shadow a Guinness World Record for creating the first commercial released album to be made entirely from sampled sounds.

Recorded between the artist’s home studio and The Glue Factory, Dan The Automator’s studio in San Francisco, ‘Endtroducing…..’ was made using an Akai MPC60 MkII sampler, a Technics SL-1200 turntable and an Alesis ADAT tape recorder. Shadow used the setup to chop, layer and arrange samples into the album’s dense, atmospheric sound.

To mark the album’s 30th anniversary, Shadow will take ‘Endtroducing…..’ on the road, with a North America tour beginning in San Diego next month. The run will continue through Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and more before culminating in a one-off show at London’s Barbican, where the album will be performed in full alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets for the Barbican show are available here, while the 30th anniversary edition of ‘Endtroducing…..’ can be pre-ordered here.

The announcement arrives shortly after Shadow shared his latest single, ‘Nobody Speak Part 2’, featuring Denzel Curry and TiaCorine. The track reworks ‘Nobody Speak’, originally released on Shadow’s 2016 album ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ and featuring Run The Jewels’ El-P and Killer Mike.
