“Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas” features an amorphous structure, with lots of improvisation featuring outside lines to keep the feeling close to the edge of madness. The central core of vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and drummer Philo Tsoungui act as the pillar for the song while the remaining band members add scattering color all around them.

The Mars Volta are currently preparing for a US tour celebrating their full discography, set to kick off Tuesday evening, September 8th, in Ventura, California. Get tickets here.
