After watching injuries derail the first half of their 2025 season, the Ravens may be experiencing some PTSD. Baltimore announced their Week 2 roster moves and injury designations today, and the updates weren’t exactly encouraging.
For starters, after placing rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane on injured reserve this week, the Ravens confirmed that they’ll be down two pass catchers, downgrading Zay Flowers’ injury designation from doubtful to out. After opening up the 2026 season with five catches for 150 yards and a touchdown in the first half last week, Flowers exited the game as he appeared to be having hamstring issues. He didn’t appear in practice until showing up as a limited participant yesterday, and he’ll be unavailable as Baltimore hosts the Saints tomorrow.
Flowers joins linebacker Teddye Buchanan and defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike as players ruled out for tomorrow. Buchanan and Madubuike are both making their way back from serious season-ending injuries, and they sat out last week, as well. It also seems that one player currently listed as questionable may join that group as inactive. Starting left tackle Ronnie Stanley mirrored Flowers’ practice participation this week as he dealt with a toe injury. He was never designated as out or doubtful, so they seem to think he has a decent chance to play, but Baltimore used its standard gameday practice squad elevation on offensive tackle Gerad Lichtenhan, who could be insurance in case Stanley can’t play.
While Flowers was able to avoid following Lane to an injury list, the Ravens have placed cornerback T.J. Tampa on IR. A 2024 fourth-round pick out of Iowa State, Tampa’s impact has been minimal through just over two years in Baltimore. Injuries limited him to only seven games as a rookie, and while injuries to others opened the door to some playing time in Year 2, there were only four games last year in which Tampa logged double-digit snaps on defense. Now, a game into the season, he’ll begin what will be a four-game absence at least as he deals with a knee injury.
Thanks to Tampa’s placement on IR, the Ravens only need to elevate one player today in Lichtenhan. Last week, they called up linebacker Carl Jones Jr., but with Tampa’s roster spot opening up, Jones will play in Week 2 as a player on the active roster in a different way. This time, he won’t revert back to the taxi squad. The Ravens signed him from their practice squad to their 53-man roster.
