Darude has shared his first-ever remix of his iconic track ‘Sandstorm’. You can listen to the ‘Storm 25’ mix below.
Out today (18th September), the rework marks 25 years of the iconic dance track and arrives as Darude celebrates the milestone with his STORM 25 world tour, which launched last summer and continues throughout 2026. The mix was originally developed as a live-set rework for the tour, which draws on material from across the Finnish producer’s career.
‘Storm 25’ is the first release from the forthcoming EP, ‘Sandstorm: The Remixes’, due out on 2nd October via Darude’s own Vibing Out label. The EP will also feature reworks from SYREETA, ZANS, lau.ra, Mike Saint-Jules, VNSSA, Orion and Dimension.
For the new version, Darude first recreated ‘Sandstorm’ in its original form before rebuilding its key sounds from scratch. The core melody remains intact, while the new version adds big-room energy, melodic techno elements, and orchestral textures.
Speaking on the release, Darude said: “‘Sandstorm’ has such an incredible life of its own and, honestly, I’m just grateful people are still dancing to it. So many talented people have taken their own swing at it, while a lot of producers I admire have told me it’s simply too risky to touch. But this one is personal.
“It’s the track that started everything for me and my career, and after 25 years, it felt like the right time to take it somewhere new. That, and to see how hard I can make it hit on a dancefloor in 2026,” he continued.
First released in 1999, ‘Sandstorm’ became one of electronic music’s defining anthems, driven by its instantly recognisable synth melody. The track has since amassed more than one billion streams and 322 million YouTube views, while earning Gold and Platinum certifications in the process.
