The National Center for Choreography–Akron has teamed up with history and advocacy organization Memoirs of Blacks in Ballet for “Dancing Lab: MoBBallet Writing Workshop.” Hosted in Akron, Ohio, the residency (July 13–17) will bring together four writers selected from an open call to examine the role dance writing has to play in the field’s evolving ecosystem, and the needs and responsibilities of its practitioners. Programming was shaped by findings from both NCCAkron’s previous Dancing Labs and MoBBallet’s 2024 Dance Writers Convening.
