Glimpsed from a tranquil downtown street, the flirty playfulness of this 38-room lifestyle hotel adds up to more than a hipster love nest. Brainchild of owners Emmanuel Delaverne and artist André Saraiva, expect unabashed joie de vivre that distinguishes this little retro-Riviera sister from the Parisian Hotel Amour and Hotel Grand Amour. The hedonistic theme celebrates the Mediterranean, starting with the urban rooftop mini-pool, with a beach deck, striped umbrellas, and a stupendous view of the city; after sunset, it morphs into a candlelit fixed-price Greek restaurant (expect copious starters to share, barbecued meat and fish, and a heavenly orange cake for dessert). Add to that a patio eatery edged with towering greenery and more tasty, authentic Greek cuisine à la carte. Upstairs, the deeply comfortable rooms—a mix of small, medium, and large, some with balconies—are joyous shades of powder pink and sea-turquoise, jazzed up with (mildly) erotic photos and drawings. High point: the rose marble in-suite tubs and spacious double showers. There are no TVs or minibars, but the inviting, cavernous bar downstairs is the epicenter for all-day lounging. After breakfast— served in the cozy lobby restaurant, surrounded by marine-themed ceramics and cool vintage finds—drape yourself on a sunbed at the hotel’s private beach and restaurant, Amour à la Plage, a 10-minute stroll away.
