If loss of inhibition had a sound, it’d register as Georgia Bird’s ‘Move Like That’ EP. Driving and raw, it swaps the ambient flourishes of her IN2STELLAR project for unfettered left-field minimalism, and yet underneath lies a viscerality that comes from lived experience: the title track boasts a grit you can sense beneath your nails, the mechanical loops of ‘Let’s Go’ cast a trance-inducing effect and techno cuts ‘Like This’ and ‘In Motion’ bore their way into the brain and stay there. One may mistake the murky four-tracker — written between Europe and Bird’s Australian home — as a segue of exploration, but it’s something more inherent. “After spending time exploring more emotional and atmospheric sounds, I found myself being drawn back towards the music that made me fall in love with electronic music in the first place,” Bird shares. Her debut solo EP is a flashback to formative dancefloors — let’s stay here for a while.
