Dance for Life Celebrates Its 35th Year, Honors Randy Duncan

Chicago’s Dance for Life event celebrates its 35th year of bringing together the city’s dance artists to support the community’s critical medical needs. Conceived during the HIV/AIDS crisis, the fundraiser for the Chicago Dance Health Fund has raised more than $8 million through its annual one-night-only performance.

This year’s event, at the Auditorium Theatre on August 22, will feature Ballet 5:8, Chicago Dance Crash, Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater, Giordano Dance Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Joffrey Ballet, Robyn Mineko Williams and Artists, Trinity Irish Dance Company, and Visceral Dance Chicago, as well as a work by Jeremy Plummer and Harrison McEldowney.

Chicago native Randy Duncan, who has contributed choreography to the annual event since 1995, will also be honored this year, and will craft the evening’s finale featuring dancers from all of the participating groups.
