After its award-winning debut at Sundance last winter, Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! is slated for theatrical release September 25. The off-beat dramedy follows Haru (Rinko Kikuchi), a middle-aged woman who competes in Tokyo’s Latin ballroom scene with her husband until he dies of a heart attack mid-competition. As Haru finds her way back to dance—and herself—by way of an infatuation with a new instructor, the film showcases her emotional arc through imaginative, fantastical dance sequences choreographed by Miri Murano and Chikako Takemoto.
