Tomorrowland’s second weekend is set to take place without “large-scale” fireworks, with limited pyrotechnics permitted at the Main Stage only.

The decision follows restrictions introduced during weekend one, when local authorities in the Belgian festival’s hometown of Boom banned fireworks and stage pyrotechnics due to prolonged dry weather and elevated fire risks across the region.

Tomorrowland weekend two kicks off today, Thursday 23rd July, and runs until late Sunday night, with a stacked programme of performances from some of the biggest names in electronic music, including ALOK, Indira Paganotto, Miss Monique, Armin van Buuren, Calvin Harris, Mall Grab, and many more.

According to Belgian news outlet VRT NWS, the permitted pyrotechnics will be limited to the Main Stage and will consist of T1 and T2 effects, which are designed for shorter safety distances and can be fully controlled. Tomorrowland has stressed that these are not the high-altitude fireworks traditionally used at the festival, and their deployment will depend on daily safety assessments in consultation with authorities.

The ban on personal barbecues and cooking equipment at the campsite will also remain in place for weekend two, with supervised communal cooking areas available in designated locations.

Belgium remains under a Code Orange wildfire risk warning, the second-highest alert level issued by authorities.
