Mark Briffa departs as Wheels Up announces sales team shifts

Wheels Up sales leadership will change, with current Chief Sales Officer Mark Briffa stepping down and an interim taking over until a replacement is found.

David Godsman, current Chief Digital Officer, will lead in the interim, per a press release.

Meanwhile, Mike Bowman, who led the Wheels Up sales effort at Delta Air Lines, has joined Wheels Up as EVP, Global Corporate Sales.

He will report to Godsman, marking another Delta executive moving to Wheels Up.

Overview of shifts and hire

Mark Briffa is stepping down from his position as Chief Sales Officer, though he will stay through the end of August.

Briffa had been with the company since it purchased Air Partner.

Air Partner was acquired by Wheels Up in 2022 as part of a half-dozen deals.

Briffa was CEO of Air Partner before being named and became Chief Sales Officer in 2025.

While Wheels Up searches for a new CSO, Chief Digital Officer David Godsman will take over.

Godsman was previously the Chief Digital Officer at The Coca-Cola Company from 2016 to 2021, before joining in 2023.

Separately, Mike Bowman has joined Wheels Up as EVP, Global Corporate Sales, following 18 years at Delta Airlines, where he led Delta’s corporate sales partnership with Wheels Up for 3 years.

Bowman will report to Godsman and lead a global corporate sales strategy across enterprise customers, industry verticals, and SMEs.

Briffa had been based in London, where Air Partner was headquartered.

Delta Air Lines and Wheels Up are each headquartered in Atlanta.

In May, Wheels Up retired the Air Partner brand from passenger and cargo charters.

Background and Delta connection

The sales leadership transition resembles 2024, when Wheels Up announced leadership changes as Delta veterans assumed several key roles.

In 2023, investors led by Delta invested $500 million in Wheels Up.

Earlier this year, Delta continued its financial backing with a $100 million term loan.
