SC Aviation announced the acquisition of Heartland Aviation, a private jet charter operator based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Janesville, Wisconsin-based SC Aviation wants to expand its footprint in the Upper Midwest.
It expects the acquisition will enhance its service capabilities, fleet resources, and customer reach, according to a press release.
Intent and background
The acquisition expands the acquirer’s capabilities and fleet resources in western Wisconsin and the Minneapolis-St—Paul region.
“Heartland Aviation has built a strong reputation in the Eau Claire region,” said Adam Singer, SC Aviation’s Vice President and General Manager, in a press release, “and this acquisition allows us to combine that local expertise with SC Aviation’s resources and network to better serve our customers throughout the Upper Midwest.”
SC Aviation, founded in 1946, provides global aircraft charter, management, maintenance, and consulting services.
Its fleet is based in Janesville but operates nationwide.
The company is owned by Colony Brands, a multinational business best known for food products.
It traces its aviation history to 1946, when it launched as the corporate flight department for Swiss Colony, a mail-order cheese company.
Heartland Aviation, founded in 1961, provides charter, management, maintenance, and various other aircraft services.
SC Aviation offers an as-available jet card membership with hourly rates.
Its fleet is based in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Per the latest FAA Part 135 data, the companies have 24 aircraft available for charter.
Heartland Aviation brings four Citation light jets.
SC Aviation’s fleet is led by 13 Hawker 800-series midsize jets and four Challenger 300-series super-midsize aircraft.
It also has a pair of Falcon 2000s and a Falcon 7X.
